Rakdi
The "Rakdi" project has been running at "Kelim" since 2021, led by choreographers Shaked Mocheach and Omer Uziel, in collaboration with women from the third age group (seniors) living in Bat Yam.
During 2021–2022, the project was supported by the "Connecting" project of the Pais Foundation, in collaboration with the Israeli Volunteer Council and the Department for Community and Prevention at the Bat Yam Society for Culture, Leisure, and Sports.
The "Rakdi" project operates under the umbrella of "Taking Action," which centralizes projects involving people with diverse abilities at "Kelim." "Taking Action" expands and enriches the boundaries of social and artistic discourse alike, allowing a mutually beneficial impact: dance creators act as leaders in the social environment in which they operate using artistic and creative tools, while people living with disabilities influence the artistic field, actively participating with their bodies and presence in creating new aesthetic languages, offering a fresh and diverse perspective on concepts such as center and margin, visible and invisible.
Currently, the project is led by Shaked Mocheach. During 2023–2024, the women participating in the project performed and conducted workshops across Bat Yam for various third-age groups (assisted living, senior day centers, etc.), in an inspiring volunteer effort in which they took ownership of the choreographic tools and gave back to their communities. Throughout the year, the women meet weekly for creative and choreographic learning sessions, and every year a culmination event is held, showcasing the work to family and friends.
In 2022, choreographers Omer Uziel and Shaked Mocheach led a creative process with the participating women, culminating in the premiere of an original work at the "Kelim" Center.
About the Choreographer:
Shaked Mocheach is a choreographer, dancer, musician, artistic director, and one of the founders of "Tnuat Tarbut." In her works, she creates choreography for human encounters, seeking to find in the dancer's body the potential for shared transcendence. Her works have been presented at the Acre Festival, Raising the Curtain, IntimaDance, Arnab Martz, the Kelim Festival, and more. Her debut album, "Purple," was released last summer. She is a graduate of the two-year Choreography Program at the "Kelim" Center.
